Born in Kyoto, Japan, Masato Kimura got familiar with Bon dance and druming since childhood and he started to play jazz at the university in 1984. His musical career started in the context of the New York free jazz culture where he worked with the famous jazz trumpeter Don Cherry and where he also specialized in the Cuban Rumba and Nigerian Bata drum. In 2000 after moving back to Japan he started playing an African percussion set as N'DANA and also a primitive shamanistic approach project with SHINGO as Space Do Chant in Hokkaido from 2012 to present. Moreover he had participated in countless number of collaborative sessions, improvisations and live performances around the world. On Mahorka he debuted with "Conga Brava Suite", a collaboration with SANMI.
