Rafael Diogo, known as Deep Dive Sound, is a Portuguese field recordist and ambient composer living between London and the wild Atlantic coast of southern Portugal. His work has taken him across the world, often venturing into remote and untouched landscapes to capture the sounds of elusive wildlife, the mysticism of ancient rituals and the songs of Indigenous communities. Through field recording and attentive listening, he explores the connections between sound, culture, memory and place, creating immersive soundscapes that bring distant worlds closer and invite us to listen to the world around us in new ways.

His recent work with Indigenous communities celebrates their ancestral languages, songs and traditions through albums that honour their cultural identity, with all proceeds going directly back to the communities. These recordings do more than preserve beautiful sounds. They help keep living cultures and traditions alive for future generations, with selected recordings safeguarded by the British Library Sound Archive, the Pitt Rivers Museum and the University of Oxford.

He is also the co-founder of Resonant Futures, a grassroots initiative bringing ambient, drone and experimental music to intimate spaces across London, creating moments of collective listening while raising funds for humanitarian and environmental causes around the world.

Drawing inspiration from the stories held within landscapes, cultures and everyday objects, Deep Dive Sound creates immersive soundscapes suspended between presence and disappearance. His work carries a quiet, delicate nostalgia, inviting listeners to slow down, listen deeply and reconnect with the fragile beauty of the world, and with the memories it leaves within us.
