Sabrinde
Dirk Pauwels aka Sabrinde is a Belgian sound artist and electronic music producer based in Leuven, Belgium. He holds a Master’s degree in Audio-Visual Arts and worked for more than fifteen years as a professional freelance video editor for several leading media production companies in Belgium.
Active in electronic music for over thirty-five years, Pauwels initially worked as a producer in various dance music projects before gradually shifting his focus toward soundscape-oriented compositions. His work explores texture, atmosphere, and narrative through sound, often emphasizing subtle timing, spatial depth, and careful sonic editing.
Under various pseudonyms such as Marcus 7, Celcius & Candela, Alfes Thulta, AoRTa and Dropbit, his earlier productions were released on labels such as Etiquette Records, Antler-Subway Records, Conspiracy Records, Don’t Belong Records and several Net-labels. Tracks from these projects appeared on numerous compilation albums and EPs released both in Belgium and internationally, including well-known compilations such as the Dance Opera Trip series, Serious Beats and Belgian New Beat – The Compilation, distributed on formats ranging from CD and vinyl to cassette.
Today, Pauwels works within the circular economy sector while continuing his artistic practice as a soundscape composer. His strength lies in refined sound editing and a strong sense of timing and composition. His album Ysplo has recentely been released via the Mahorka label.
