Tim Koch
Tim Koch (also on CPU, Ghostly International, Merck, U-Cover, deFocus, DataDoor, Aural Industries) is an experimental electronic musician known for blending generative sound design, abstract composition, and vintage computing aesthetics into immersive audio experiences. His work often explores the boundary between structured composition and algorithmic unpredictability, drawing influence from early computer music, ambient minimalism, and avant-garde traditions.
Stylistically, Koch’s work has been compared to the dense, shifting sonic clusters of György Ligeti and the sparse, introspective moods of Erik Satie, though his output remains distinctly rooted in contemporary experimental electronics. His pieces often unfold slowly, inviting listeners into meditative yet unpredictable sonic environments.
On Mahorka Tim Koch has appeared through the years with some notable remixes for other artists as well as as part of the Dolphins of Venice duo with Adrien Capozzi (Adrien75, Tawdry Otter), the Takamu trio with Adrien Capozzi and Michael Upton (Jet Jaguar), and Isolated Gate with Ian Masters (from the famous Pale Saints on 4AD and also Spoonfed Hybrid, ESP Summer, Friendly Science Orchestra, Big Beautiful Bluebottle, Galactic Embrace, etc.).
In late 2026 Mahorka is releasing Tim Koch and Andrew Lang's "Comminuere Communitas", comprised of upright piano, Fender Rhodes piano, synthesisers, granular sampling and electronics, exploring the question “what is left for the piano" and pushing the answers into uncharted territory.
